An accomplished executive with four decades of leadership in the North American forest products, pulp, and paper industry, Mr. Black has consistently delivered profitability, operational excellence, and strategic growth. As Senior Vice President at Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM), he led a $500 million division and managed the successful integration of Tembec following its acquisition. Previously, as Executive Vice President at Tembec, he oversaw $1.5 billion in operations, driving production optimization, securing government funding, and negotiating pioneering labor agreements. His deep expertise in cost control, facility planning, and market development has fueled record-setting profitability—especially in the paperboard sector. A results-oriented leader, Mr. Black led a transformative turnaround at the Kapuskasing newsprint mill, implementing major efficiency gains. Throughout his career, he has navigated economic downturns, championed safety initiatives, and cultivated strong relationships with government and industry stakeholders. Most recently, he served as Board Advisor to GreenFirst Forest Products, supporting the seamless transition of RYAM-acquired assets.
