Position: Supervisor – Store

Location: Kapuskasing, ON – Papermill

Salary Range: $70,000.00 - $78,000.00 annually

 

Requirements:

  • Language: English (spoken and written) and French would be considered an asset.

  • Education: University degree or college / work equivalent in logistics, supply chain

  • management, business or a related field.

  • Experience: 3 – 5 years in an industrial environment.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Excellent leadership skills.

  • In depth knowledge of warehouse systems and enterprise resource planning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to Purchasing Manager.

  • Supervises key warehouse personnel.

  • Directs Kapuskasing News Mill Operations stores and operating supply’s function and procures material and services for the News Mill site to ensure that they meet or exceed internal quality and delivery expectations at low cost.

  • Contribute to the profitability of the company through an effective warehousing function by keeping an inventory of spare parts, general stock, current material, consignment stock, machine clothing, major raw materials, and other supplies in the required quantities.

  • Source suppliers of products and/or services and perform effective analysis to ensure suppliers meet or exceed internal expectations and requirements for day-today activities and capital projects as per assigned commodities.

  • Support corporate purchasing activities by recommending the consolidation and standardization of common products and services to increase leverage and maximize savings.

  • Review and analyze supplier proposals and make selection recommendations to end users.

  • Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions, site contracts in an effective manner.

  • Promote good vendor relations.

  • Review all purchasing requests to ensure consistency with corporate policy and guidelines.

  • Expedite all overdue purchase orders on a regular basis.

  • Communicates supplier or product changes to Stores Supervisor for updating inventory information.

  • Coordinate transportation and associate documentation for shipping and customs.

  • Ensure that all products and/or services comply with QMS (ISO 9002), EMS (ISO 14001) & OHSAS (18001).

  • Facilitate the sourcing of site materials and services by communicating business needs to vendors or service providers and identifying and clarifying vendor issues for site Managers and Superintendents.

  • Keep up to date with new products, equipment, and suppliers to recommend improvements in the quality, terms, delivery schedules of materials and services purchased.

  • Report monthly progress on specific objectives.

  • Maintain a high standard of ethics and treat suppliers & contractors equitably in connection with sourcing, solicitation, award processes and decisions.

  • Promote higher levels of safety, productivity, quality, better methods, and lower costs by continuously auditing the practices and procedures throughout the department.

  • Forecast, reorder, and coordinate delivery requirements of all major bulk chemicals for company operations.

  • Develop and implement plan to reduce stores inventory in coordination with maintenance, purchasing and operations.

  • Review overstock on a regular basis and coordinate transfer of overstock material to other sites as required.

  • Ensure department budget is prepared, met and variances explained with appropriate corrective action taken.

  • Advise and/or recommend changes or opportunities outside of direct area of accountability that will contribute to optimizing the short and long-term site objectives to immediate supervisor or colleagues.

  • Identify opportunities related to material procurement.
