Process Engineer / Technician

Position: Process Engineer / Technician

Location: Kapuskasing, ON – Papermill

Salary: $70,000.00 – $105,000.00 annually

 

Requirements:

  • Language: English (spoken and written) and French is an asset.

  • Education: University degree in Chemical Engineering or Equivalent.

  • Experience: 3 – 5 years experience in the field or related field.

  • Member of a Canadian Professional Engineers Association is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Manufacturing Services Manager.

  • Lead root cause analysis and find solutions.

  • Perform weekend duty when required.

  • Support compliance with collective agreement and sound union / management / employee relations.

  • Promote and provide a safe workplace, seek improvements, support Health & Safety Program.

  • Support operating department activities and needs on a day-to-day basis, which may involve troubleshooting, data analysis, or special testing.

  • Use data-driven approaches to monitor, track, and analyze production data, adjusting as necessary to meet production targets.

  • Prepare and maintain detailed process documentation, reports, and training materials. Create process flow diagrams and work instructions as needed.

  • Train operators and technicians on new processes and best practices to ensure adherence to procedures and high-quality standards.

  • Support the implementation of process improvements leading to optimization of News mill manufacturing process.

  • Provide technical guidance that supports manufacturing process design improvements (e.g., project development reports for capital expenditures).

  • Maintain awareness of operating department process conditions and drive changes that return productivity, quality and cost back to target if deviating.

  • Provide recommendations related to current operating guidelines and introduction of new technology.

  • Provide statistical analysis to support capital expenditures resulting in cost reduction or improved quality.
