Position: Superintendent – Information Technology
Location: Kapuskasing, ON – Papermill
Salary: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 annually
Requirements
Language: English (spoken and written); French is an asset.
Education: Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree is an asset.
Experience: 5–7 years in IT with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of change management, cybersecurity, and audit practices.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proficiency in project management software, IT service management tools, and productivity suites.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
Supervise direct reports and provide guidance and support for daily operations.
Foster a positive, collaborative work environment and ensure the team meets performance goals.
IT Systems and Applications Management
Manage critical production systems such as PI, Proficy, and Elixir to ensure they function optimally.
Oversee the mill’s domain, applications, and all related IT systems to ensure proper integration and continuous availability.Administer software licenses and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
Collaborate with third-party groups aligned with business functions such as SAP and Empath.
Cloud and Network Administration
Administer and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring availability and cost optimization.
Oversee subscriptions to IT services and tools to ensure proper utilization and cost control.
Manage virtual machine environments and ensure performance meets operational needs.
Assist and monitor network infrastructure to ensure security, stability, and performance.
Process Control Systems and Development
Oversee implementation and management of process control systems such as PI and Proficy.
Ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Collaborate with production teams to develop and refine custom solutions.
Identify opportunities for optimization and automation to improve productivity and reduce downtime.
Support and Maintenance
Provide ongoing support for the IT environment and troubleshoot technical issues.
Work with external vendors as needed.
Conduct system upgrades, patching, and regular maintenance.
Security and Compliance
Ensure systems are protected against cyber threats through security measures and audits.
Ensure compliance with industry standards.
Maintain regular backups of critical systems and data.
Collaboration and Communication
Liaise with senior management and departments to identify IT needs and align with business objectives.
Provide regular reports on system performance, incident resolution, and project progress.
Project Planning and Implementation
Lead and manage IT-related projects including planning, execution, and delivery.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and timelines.
Monitor progress, resolve issues, and provide updates to leadership.
Ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Audit and SOX Compliance
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and auditing requirements.
Work with internal and external auditors and provide documentation.
Maintain policies and procedures related to data security and IT governance.
Budget Management
Manage the IT department budget.
Review and forecast IT-related costs.
Recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Prepare budget proposals with senior management.
Help Desk Ticketing and Incident Management
Oversee the help desk ticketing system and ensure timely resolution of support requests.
Ensure adherence to service level agreements.
Improve ticketing processes and customer satisfaction.
Maintain documentation and address recurring issues.
