Position: AP/AR Specialist
Location: Kapuskasing, ON – Papermill
Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 annually
Requirements:

Education: Post-secondary certificate, Degree/Diploma in Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of two years of experience in Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable.
Proficiency with accounting software, and MS Office.

Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
Ability to pull data from data base / Enterprise Resource Planning System and work the data in excel for reports and Key Performance Indicators.
Review reports to create payment in accordance with departmental guidelines.
Identify and escalate issues timely to ensure critical vendor accounts are maintained within requirements.
Serve as a key contact between vendor and internal production teams, ensuring prompt resolution of payable discrepancies, disputes, and unreconciled items.
Reconcile various vendor accounts; research and resolve routine internal and external inquiries concerning invoices or account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate persons.
Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable.
Accounts Receivable
Maintaining accounts receivable records is crucial to ensure that aging is current, credits and collections are properly applied, uncollectible amounts are noted, and any miscellaneous discrepancies are resolved.
Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy.
Provide customer service support for billing inquiries and issues.
Ensure timely and precise responses to accounts receivable queries from both employees and customers.
Project cash receipts and elevate collection concerns to the relevant internal and external parties.
General Financial Duties
Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
Assist in the preparation of month-end financial reports as required.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate data collection and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:
Ensure the achievement of the shift paper mill plan and targets and that all customer specifications, safety, environmental, collective agreement, and company procedures are met on shift.
Provide direction and supervision to all members of the paper machine, stock prep and support crews on shift.
On nights and weekends, coordinate all mill site crews, including directing the shift maintenance trades, on all aspects related to the newsprint manufacturing process that have an impact on customer requirements and production targets.
On nights and weekends, assume responsibilities and accountabilities for first response to safety, environmental and security issues.
Delegate any appropriate duties to the shift engineer to supervise, troubleshoot or optimize.
Represent management on shift and has the prescribed authority to take direct responsibility of any accidents, fires, environmental spills, or security issues until completely managed or handed off to the appropriate day staff.
Execute the paper mill shift production plan.
Take needed actions to address issues adversely affecting the daily plan and quickly enroll other staff, more senior staff, and other support departments to take needed corrective action.
Report any issues to the PM Superintendent or designate that will prevent meeting the shift production budgets, customer requirements, and/or safety and environmental regulations as per the mill communication protocol.
Direct Paper Mill shift activities to ensure timely and effective resolution to on-shift manning, process issues, equipment reliability, safety, and environmental issues.
Provide detail and precise shift documentation on issues related to safety, environmental, production, quality, and human resource. Prepare all needed logs, reports, and maintenance work orders.
Ensure the effective communication at shift change to incoming shift personnel, including the clear and complete communication of manning, equipment reliability, productivity, quality, safety, and environmental issues. Ensure the timely investigation of productivity, quality, safety, and environmental incidents, and ensure satisfactory follow-up.
Conduct safety meetings and execute the mill yearly safety plan and associated activities including re-training in compliance areas for their crew to support and ensure standards for safety and housekeeping work practices are maintained and followed.
Ensure manning of paper machine shift crews as per company policies and guidelines.
Monitor performance of assigned paper mill employees to ensure they can achieve performance expectations and provide the necessary coaching or follow-up.
Advise and/or recommend changes or opportunities that will contribute to optimizing the short and long-term growth objectives of the site, to the Superintendent – Papermill.
